In honor of Black History Month I have compiled a list of 6 books that my kids absolutely love!
1. You Can Do It (Tony Dungy)
This is a great book that encourages young boys to dream BIG with encouragement from their family and faith in God.
2. Welcome to the Party (Gabrielle Union)
This sweet book centers around a baby girl and welcoming her into the family! Beautiful illustrations and a great message about love for children.
3. Little Leaders - Bold Women in Black History (Vashti Harrison)
Exceptional book that highlights all the Black women in history that have paved the way for women everywhere.
4. Little Leaders - Exceptional Men in Black History (Vashti Harrison)
This book highlights all the black men in history who have made a powerful impact in our world.
5. Dad Who Will I Be? (G. Todd Taylor)
This book follows a dad and his son on a journey to learn about different careers he may want to choose later on in life while highlighting well-known black men in history in those positions.
6. Grace For President (Kelly Dipuccio)
This colorful story follows Grace as she learns about democracy, running for Presidency and how the Electoral College works. This book is great for elementary aged children and theres even an Author's Note in the back that breaks down the process of the Electoral College for adults.
I hope you all enjoy these books as much as my family enjoys them! What are some of your favorite books for children to learn about Black History?
