I'm 31 and had never had a facial before. Crazy, right? My skin has always been "normal" but then one day I got pregnant and guess what? Hormones. My skin had random dry patches and random acne outbreaks so I decided to do something about it.
I made an appointment at Hiatus Spa & Retreat since I had a gift card. I used Yelp to find which esthetician had good reviews and Michelle's name kept popping up. So I booked the 90 minute Tailor Made Facial with Michelle. She was so sweet and the facial was divine!
When you arrive you do the usual check-in, change in the locker room and go to the waiting area with fruit water and tea. I really liked the atmosphere of this place as it was cozy, organized and super clean. I truly felt relaxed as it wasn't as busy as some of the other spa's I've been to in the Houston area. This could have also attributed to the time I went which was around 2:45pm.
The facial starts off with aromatherapy (you choose 1 aroma from 3 choices) and then your skin is analyzed. I'm not too sure what else happened after this but none of it burned or even tingled. Which is why I was apprehensive to go in the first place. My skin is super sensitive and I think I was turned off by other reviews of facials that said it burned. They must have had a peel or something. Regardless, I am definitely going to get another facial there as it left my skin looking and feeling radiant!
the facility is clean
not super busy
standard price point
friendly and knowledgable staff
Aveda products were used
they provide shampoo, lotion, hair ties, soap and whatever else you need for a shower after your services are complete.
plenty of parking in the garage on the first floor
it is in between two restaurants in case you get hungry before or after your services
the facial itself was amazing and my skin looked and felt smoother after one session
The only con I can think of is the location of the facility. It is located at the bottom level of an apartment building. If you aren't too savvy with directions you might have difficulty finding it.
